Finding a good Canon laser printer isn’t difficult to do since the company is well known for the quality products that it produces, but I was wondering if they had a multifunctional device which didn’t have a scanner. Since I don’t need the function much and I don’t have any use for it, I don’t want to waste my money buying a device with a function I don’t need. Luckily, I found the Canon ImageCLASS D880 All-in-One Laser Printer and I was so happy when I found it. It’s like all my dreams came true with the development of this model, and I have written this review to show you why it’s such a great device.

Design

It looks similar to most multifunctional laser printers, but the black control panel creates a nice aesthetic accent that adds to the value of the device. The model is quite large and is not fit for travel or transferring from one area to another, so I had to make good room for it. It has the dimensions of 24.5″ x 17.4″ x 15.1″ and a weight of 52.9 pounds all complete with attachments. I settled it on a working shelf beside my computer so it doesn’t clutter up my computing space.

It has a simple LCD display for easier and more accurate navigation and operation of the device. The buttons are very intuitive and I have found no problems whatsoever with using the device through button control. However, it is not designed for multiple user operation and I cannot create a network with my other computers. The only way for me to access it with multiple computers is by connecting other computers to my main PC and access the printer through the main computer.

Printing and Other Functions

Because it’s a Canon laser printer, I know I can depend on the quality of its prints. And I was not wrong. Although it’s not as fast as other models in printing output, with only a speed of 16 pages per minute, it can produce good quality printouts with a resolution of 2400×600 dpi.

The copier has a faster printing speed of 18 pages per minute but a lower resolution of 1200×600 dpi, but this is better than other copier qualities. You can zoom in and out of your document in sizes 50% smaller to 200% bigger, with every whole number included in between. You can also reduce and enlarge your documents in preset sizes of 50%, 64%, 78%, 129%, and 200%. Its features include memory collate for reproducing several copies of multiple page documents in correct page order; toner saver mode which allows you to save more ink and reduce costs; and 2 on 1 copying which lets you produce a copy of two documents in one sheet of paper, saving more paper and helping the environment.

The fax machine can save up to 256 pages of fax memory. The fax resolution is better than most other fax machines, with a resolution of 406×390 dpi. It can save 12 speed dials and 100 coded dials in the memory for easier communication with your clients, friends, and family. It also has a memory back-up for interrupted faxes and printing in order for several page documents.

Other Features

The 30-page automatic document feeder makes copying several page documents very easy to do. The platen glass used for copying can read up to legal size documents or 8.5” x 14” size paper. There are two paper trays for multiple paper feeding – no need to refill the trays every now and then. The cassette tray can carry a maximum of 500 sheets and the multipurpose tray can carry a maximum of 100 sheets. It’s also an Energy Star qualified device which means that you don’t only benefit from using it, you also help preserve Mother Nature and save the environment from more greenhouse gases.

Conclusion

I have been using this Canon laser printer for quite a while now, and I have had no problems with it. It’s a great multifunctional device and it really gave me exactly what I needed – a laser printer, copier, and fax machine. I think having the Canon ImageCLASS D880 All-in-One Laser Printer is a great advantage for me and I wouldn’t trade it with any other model. It’s also Energy Star so I don’t feel bad even when I use the machine for a long period of time. So if you’re like me who needs a fax machine, copier, and laser printer and you want to have it all in one very efficient device, this is the model that I would definitely recommend for you.
